INDUCTION

I’m booked in for an induction on 39+6 days. My consultant has determined it is medically necessary for me to do my very best to not go over 40 due to placenta functions. I would really like to go into labour before I get to that point. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do to go into spontaneous labour?

Placenta functions? Did they check your placenta and say something is wrong or that you are high risk? Obviously do what you think is best but it seems like misinformation as long as baby is moving well and active. If you are trying to induce labor naturally, a few few things that might work are castor oil or clary sage (please look into how to go about using these on YouTube) but these methods are generally not recommended before your actual due date. There is a good YouTube channel called "Care About Little Ones" and they have some great resources on naturally inducing labor. Good luck!

Placenta functions?? Sounds like gas lighting 101 from providers. Unless that have shared with you something factual I would question EVERYTHING. Going into labour isn’t really something we can control although everyone has an opinion of what could work ultimately babies really prefer to choose their own landing day.

Please do not use castor oil, it's a good laxative but please not for trying to get labour going, clary sage is amazing do reccomend

Absolutely do not use castor oil- it can cause baby to have their first stool while still in the womb which can be incredibly dangerous Unfortunately there’s not really anything great to speed up labor- baby is going to come when they’re ready. You can try things like raspberry leaf year or primrose suppositories but there’s nothing actually proven to help

Yep, please don’t use castor oil. You’ll just have a bad time. Is there actually something wrong with your placenta? I would make sure the doctors have given you all the information first before they push towards a birth you’re not keen on. The only thing that might make labour come along a little sooner is to encourage oxytocin; that means chilling out, relaxing, cuddling/snuggling the people close to you and generally taking it easy. Also walks might help baby get into position.
