Breastfeeding/latch

Struggling to get my 8 day old baby boy to latch. We had to start introducing formula milk since Tuesday to stop him from losing weight. I also pump breast milk and give this to him before any formula milk and both of these are fed through a bottle. Feel like I’m having to compete with this bottle as he feeds so well on the bottle but then struggles to latch to my nipples. Any similar experiences with positive outcomes that anyone can share? I really want me and my baby boy to be able to master breastfeeding and ditch the bottle.

It’s not in English but hopefully this video might be helpful

Have you tried nipple shields? You could also find a local breastfeeding support group or see your midwife for some help and guidance. My girl struggled initially but with a little help From the midwife and once my milk came through properly we’ve had no problems. Don’t give up if it’s what you really want to do but also don’t beat yourself up about it. Your baby is being fed and that’s the main thing x

Download the app birth and beyond that helped me as I was really struggling I still am but it’s better turns out she has a tongue tie Also going to breastfeeding groups helped having an expert look and see I’m doing it right
