Diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes

Yesterday i found out i’ve got gestational diabetes im 34+2 weeks , has anyone got any advice at all im so nervous as this is my first pregnancy and i never heard of this before being tested for it as baby is on the larger side. What are the chances of me being induced early and having a normal birth? My plan was to have a water birth. Is this still possible if induced early?

If you manage your blood sugars with diet they might allow for a water birth but will probably depend on how large baby is too. I have had to go on insulin and water birth is not recommended and outwith guidelines as want to monitor for the full labour 😭 I’m being induced early and was given option of vaginal delivery or elective c-section (they normally plan for around 37-39 weeks for induction)

Hi, I was also just diagnosed with GD - so if it helps you are not alone. I don’t have a lot of advice as this is my first time being diagnosed and my first pregnancy. Right now I’m trying to manage with diet but my hormones seem to keep the glucose high especially during fasting. From my experience they will get you to start using a glucose monitor and try to fix with diet. From there if diet is not managing the glucose then it seems like next steps are a continuous glucose monitor and insulin. They also set you up with a dietician to manage the diagnosis. At least that was my experience. Sending you lots of love!
