Bad news - section likely šŸ˜Ŗ

Due to being high risk (dodgy cervix and heart) my trust won't let me go past 40+6 and for natural birth which is my chosen option there's lots of obstacles that I've openly embraced. As long as my baby is happy and safe, then that's all that matters. Anyway... due to this I'm booked in for an induction on Tuesday. To check if my body is ready and more importantly if my cervix will work, I opted for sweeps first. I had one on Tuesday and was surprised to learn baby was fully engaged, head really low, cervix soft and just under 2cm dilated so sweep was successful. Unfortunately, nothing happened so had sweep number 2 today. Midwife advised everything still exactly the same with no changes. I've been in latent labour for over a week and the lack of any progress from this or the sweeps means there's a very high chance that my cervix won't work hence the possibility of c section. The problem with this is it's just me so recovering from surgery with a new born will be soooo hard and not what I want. Hoping and praying that my cervix decides it does work and baby arrives before time runs out šŸ¤ž

Sorry to hear that! I recommend trying clary sage in the bath, I went into active labour the next day- worth a try; good luck x

I had a c section two weeks ago today and so pleasantly surprised with recovery itā€™s not half as bad as I thought it would be. As long as you have someone to help you with what you canā€™t manage and stay on top of pain meds itā€™s very manageable. Also if you do have one stand and lower to sit using leg muscles not stomach it makes a huge difference. Iā€™m out for walks have been out for food, just got on with it from about day 6. The theatre team were great too so I found the whole thing very positive and would have another if needed

Sweeps donā€™t work for everyone so donā€™t get caught up if they donā€™t work. Theyā€™ve never worked for me but Iā€™ve had 2 successful vaginal births. I also donā€™t dilate until minutes before having my babies. I get to 2cm then stall for a few days then go from nothing to everything extremely quickly. Rest while you can and try not to stress. The more you relax the easier it is for your body to make the labour hormones x
