Depo Shot

Hey ladies, I know that no woman is the same as the next but I really need to talk to somebody who’s on depo and having a rejection to the meds, has had one, side effects or Use to be on it, because I AM ABOUT TO LOSE IT. I don’t need medical advice I’m here for woman to woman and if you don’t feel comfortable replying on here. Just message me because I want a private conversation about this personal matter anyway. Any moms with a bad experience on the depo shot, please tap in.

It was god awful I'm still trying to bounce back

I tried depo as a fertility effort when I was 23 & my body went into 13 months of no period & losing bone on scans etc lol. So my Endometriosis Specialist suggested taking the pill for 2 months then stop which should bring on my periods again & fix my hormone issue after the discovery of Endometriosis through surgery. Needless to say I am resistant to birth control because I had been on it 8+ years just for my insane periods that we didn't know was endometriosis lol. So depo was an easy answer for me to try as it was a shot. So 2 shots then I'd get my period/ can finally successfully try for a child. It took us 4.5 years but that's only because I threatened to contact a lawyer when my OB wanted to see if my body was going into Perimenopause at almost 24 years old because of Depo. I said "I need a solution, & I needed it months ago. I am now 15 months with no period & I can barely walk from bone loss that isnt stopping.." they referred me to IVF no cost I had to do rigorous hormone injection therapy.

Needless to say Depo was black boxed & is used as a form of decreasing fertility in 3rd world countries. It's all talked about as a vaccine every women gets.

Wow thanks for sharing this

What’s depo??

@Doris it's a contraceptive drug injected into the body every 10-15 weeks.

I was on depot for best part of 10 years I think and developed poor mental health from it as well as life circumstances. I gained weight, lost motivation and tbh I don't think I've recovered fully. It did make holidays easier but the numb and exhausted times were difficult. After baby comes I'm not going back on anything other than condoms as we'd like another little one and took 3 years to get back to this. I've been with my hubby 12 years (married 3) and he's seen me in happy mania and deep depression due to life and various med influences. I'd still choose depot over the implant as it takes less time to wear off but only if I really needed something. You may wonder I went on it in the first place? Period migraines, and severe cramps that made it hard to move or concentrate at uni. My partner pre hubby convinced me to try the pill and that was horrendous. I feel us ladies get a real rotten deal especially with period discomfort. Hugs.

In was on depo and I gained weight that I couldn't lose after. I was on it for 2 years and afterwards it was weird trying to get my period back. I would bleed for 5 days then be done for 2 days and then bleed for 5 more days. That went on for a month. It was awful.
