My son was measuring larger than 42 weeks gestation at 38 weeks and came out 9lbs 10oz with a 14" circumference head (while cone headed). Don't let doctors pressure you into a c-section. If you want to try for a vaginal birth please do. Ultrasound isn't the most accurate way to measure. If your fungal height is measuring ahead, there's a good chance baby is larger than normal but that doesn't necessarily mean you should jump to c-section. I'm here to tell you that you don't want a c-section... at least give labor a go. The recovery from such a big abdominal surgery is really hard, especially with a newborn.
@Hayley thanks for sharing your experience. what grade of tear you had with him?and was he your first baby?
He was my first and he was a c-section. If I had known then what I know now, I would not have consented to a c-section. I reccomend asking your provider about starting stool softeners before labor just in case you do need a c-section. I couldn't produce a bowel movement until I was 15 days postpartum.. I'm not saying everyone's experience is like this when they have a c-section, but from my own lived experience, it was very hard and honestly pretty discouraging, especially as a first time mom. I couldn't get out of bed on my own for nearly two weeks.
Ultrasound weights are notoriously wrong. Don't let them scare you into making a decision. My first was a big girl, 8lbs 15 oz and it went fine, no tearing or anything. This boy is probably also going to be big but our bodies are amazing and we were made for this đ
