I had it for years before removing to have LO - pros; no remembering to take pills/book injections, lessened periods/actual bleeding (still had cramps and other symptoms, but that's probably just the endo 🙃), contraceptive left my system pretty quickly & cons; struggled to lose weight, could only maintain it due to hormone aspect
Following cause I go to get mine on the 16th !
Pros: not having to remeber to take birth control ( mom brain can't remeber anything if it dosent involve the baby 😅) Cons: The start of it I bleed worse then my first postpartum period and it lasted even longer and was super inconsistent for the first couple of months. I now have had it for almost 7 months and now I hardly ever get my period. I oddly get it tho after sex sometimes which I find a little odd but they are so much lighter and less frequent. The iud never bothers me so as long as It dose it job I'm not one to complain. I used to wear the patch and loved it as well but since postpartum I'm over the weight range for it so settled for the iud.
I had one before I got pregnant and now I have another Mirena. I LOVE it! I was terrible at remembering to take my pill, I had terrible mood swings with the pill and patch. The shot made me spot for 3 months straight. With the Mirena the first time I never got a period once. Now I get super mild bleeding sometimes just spotting for a few days. No cramps (pre IUD mine were horrendous) and nothing more than a light panty liner needed. I will stay on this continuously even if my hubby gets a vasectomy as I don’t want my period back haha
Hey I have had 4 mirenas since I was 19 because I have endometriosis I'll be honest I've not had any problems so no cons. Although I could say the only con is having them removed and replaced can be achey/painful Pros - no periods, no cramping, no crazy hormones, no need to remember pills etc
Bipolar and maybe it was just a coincidence but 2 weeks after I put it in, I started having a mixed episode. Pulled that ish out of me and I still ended up having a manic episode for the first time in 10 years. Did some research and the best hormonal BC have some scary numbers for us bipolar folks :(
Had mine for few yrs but then started coming down to where I felt it one day in the shower. I pulled it out. Planned on another baby, so immediately we started trying and became pregnant like 5 months after removal. My sister had IUD as well, her experience was different tho. She got pregnant while she was on it. She had a miscarriage few wks after.
