Pregnancy Test

Hi So we have been trying for baby #2. My period came on last week but it was a weird period. I had spotting two days before it and spotting after it too which is unusual for me. The last few days I've been getting cramps (as well as the spotting) and thought, may as well do a test. It's an extremely faint positive line. Is that even possible if I've just had my period?! Still breastfeeding so wondering if ovulation is completely out of sync?! Thanks for any advice.

It is possible to have a period and keep a pregnancy in the very early stages. Basically the area where the egg implanted did not detach during the period. Best to do another test 1st thing in the morning (hormone concentration will be highest in your pee) in about a week. Then you will know if it is a false positive or actual pregnancy as you would be at least 3wks pregnant by then based on an average menstrual cycle.

@Hattie thanks for this ☺️ when working out due date would I still go by this period?

Tell them about the one you just had, they will use that as a rough date until they can do scans and measurements. Then they can work out more accurately if LO was concieved this month or last month.

@Hattie thank you 💜

Very unlikely to get a false positive but definitely test in the morning to be sure. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone. I did the clear blue digital pregnancy test yesterday with the weeks indicator. It says I'm pregnant, 1-2 weeks. I am absolutely delighted but because I had a period I feel like I don't believe it and I've since read about chemical pregnancies. I think I will test again next week to confirm.

Hi everyone. For those of you following, just to let you know the pregnancy didn't hold. I've been bleeding a lot over the weekend and have since had a negative test 😢
