The early stages of breastfeeding can be tough, but I truly believe it’s worth it, after the first month for me it became easier. If you want to breastfeed don’t let other people tell you that you can’t unless it’s for a medical reason - if you have difficulties there are amazing specialists and health workers that can offer you tons of support, I had someone come and visit us when my daughter was three days old to help me fix my latch, do your own research, even TikTok and instagram had loads of helpful information, wishing you lots of luck in your journey, no matter how long it it! I’m still feeding my daughter at 13 months and will continue to follow her lead and ween when we’re both ready❤️

Thank you I appreciate the advice ❤️

I didn't with the first one probably cos she needed a tongue tie procedure as couldn't properly latch or maybe it was just me impatient with the firstborn but this time around midwife told me to start expressing milk a few weeks before the due date and I did so maybe that helped but also I spotted straight away that my second need a tongue which was confirmed by the midwife and then further down the line I survived all the doubt moments when I thought that I don't have milk 😉 when she was unsettled for example. So I would say start expressing before the labour, keep an eye on the baby tongue and keep strong 💪

After having latch issues with my 1st (he's now 18) and not much encouragement to continue, think it was my age at the time also, I never tried with my 2nd but last year I had a 3rd baby and like you wanted to really try. No one opened my eyes to exclusively expressing as an option if breastfeeding on the breast didn't work. I again had latch issues this time, but after preparing myself with the knowledge of expressing as an option, we have successfully managed nearly 9 months so far.

@Anna thank you for the advice ❤️ how would you know if the baby has a tounge tie

@Louise I might consider expressing, thank you for the advice ❤️
