question for trying to conceive with PCOS

the ladies here that have been trying for a year with PCOS, when you went to the gyno or fertility specialist, what are the steps? Do they put you on a medication first and see if that works? And then if you don’t get pregnant, do you try IVF? I’ve already conceived once with my son 3 years ago, and it seems my PCOS has flared up in a way after having him. I can never tell when I’m ovulating and I get my period irregularly, around 45 to 50 days. It does vary, sometimes I can get it at 40 days but lately it’s just been around 45-50 days and occasionally I won’t see a period for even longer than that. I just want to know what my chances are at trying to conceive again and what medically can be done to help to try to conceive. I’m a little discouraged 😩

i went to a reproductive endocrinologist they put me on thyroid medication and ovulation medications they do a lot of blood work and transvaginal ultrasounds to check ovaries i got put on ovulation medication and thankfully am 32 weeks pregnant now

i had irregular cycles they needed to kickstart my period as well then i would take the medication i know its easy to be discouraged but dont give up🫂 if the medication didnt work then we wouldve looked at other options like iui and ivf but maybe down the line s

@Elle did you get referred by the obgyn to see the reproductive endocrinologist? and were they able to get you in just by you having PCOS? Or did you have to be TTC for over a year, etc? also, congrats on being 32 weeks!! 🌸💗

@Toni Marie No i just found them on my own i know obgyn dont handle infertility so i never went to them until i was pregnant. You have to be ttc atleast a year (you can lie) lol how will they know but yes i went in thinking i had pcos and they confirmed everything

Thank you☺️

@Elle I know some fertility specialists don’t actually take insurance which is wild to me, they didn’t take my specific insurance I had when I was trying to be seen over a year ago but that also wasn’t a reproductive endocrinologist that I was trying to see, I was just being referred to see a fertility specialist. did the reproductive endocrinologist you saw take your insurance? Just curious to know if there are some out there that will take insurance

@Toni Marie yea they took my insurance but there was a copay every month id pay maybe like $105?

You can message me if you want lol

@Elle thank you!! messaged you
