Colostrum

Anybody harvesting and amazed at what our bodies can do before baby is even here. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I get so so excited when I see it coming every time I harvest. So exciting. Just done 30 minutes and got 2ml out of my girls. 💙💪

I’m getting worried 😅 I’m 35 weeks and still nothing!! I’ve never even leaked so now I’m abit stressed once I’m 37 weeks I won’t get anything! Obviously I haven’t seriously tried yet as it shouldn’t be done early and will try for real in 2 weeks but I’ve had no signs so far that I’m going to get much if any at all

@Evie don't worry! I didn't leak a thing but have managed to collect a small amount every session so far at 37 weeks. I am hoping with a little and often approach I will start seeing more come in. But also I know that sometimes you may not get anything before baby arrives, but that has no relevance on your supply after baby is here. Good luck! Awesome production @Kayleigh you go mama!

Honestly ladies persistence is key. On Monday I got 0.4ml but now it's flowing like a river still not leaking but as soon as i squeeze it flows. I started a week ago at 36 weeks as was told this is safe to do so. Xxx

Are you using a pump to collect? I think I might give it a try when I reach 37 weeks too!!

Nope just hands. You can start from 36. I went to a breastfeeding class and was told. Xxx

Same just hand expressing. Heard pumping wasn't a good idea to start with? I was told by my midwife to wait until 37 weeks x

@Kayleigh ooh okay!! I’m gonna have to look into it, I bought a hand pump a few weeks back to have just in case but wasn’t sure if it was the best method to use!

@Becky 36 is what the breastfeeding specialist told me and I've looked online and most say 36. Xx

@Zoé I struggled at first with my hand pump as the colostrum is so thick but now it's like water I may try with the pump again. Xxx

Does it hurt to do it by hand?

@Claire first couple of minutes yes as there sore but get through that and it's fine. Give them a good massage before hand and get them really warm xx

Yes!! I didn’t get a single drop with my first, this time round I have managed to fill 3 syringes and 38 weeks now. I had issues with my left breast before and it’s proving to be the same but my right is definitely producing enough. So proud and amazed of my body!

@Ana I feel quite luckily as this is my first baby. In also really shocked at how much I'm getting for it being my first baby xxx

@Kayleigh that’s amazing for your first baby!

@Ana thankyou I'm amazed to that's it's come that much and that quick xx

@Kayleigh I have an appointment with my midwife on Thursday and I’m 37w on Friday so I’ll ask her if it’s safe to use the pump or just better by hand. I tried the pump when I bought it and colostrum came out immediately, I was so shocked and amazed that my body knew there was a baby coming (like duh but I was still amazed 😂). Anyway! I’ll see what works best as long as it’s safe

i’m 36 weeks and managing about 1.5ml per session already! our bodies are amazing❤️
