Induction experiences

I'm booked in for an induction on the 28th August (at this point I don't care how bub comes out, as long as she is out and healthy) and my OB has explained that it is a 3 stage process: balloon catheter the night before, if that doesn't start labour then they will break my waters in the morning, if I still don't get regular contractions then I get the hormones. They have explained that the balloon is preferred as it makes breaking my waters more straight forward than the other options (gel and tape I think?) Should I require my waters to be broken. I'm wanting to know what everyone's experience is with the balloon catheter, did you need more pain relief than the laughing gas? Did it work? What can I expect? Thanks! đź’•

I got the balloon induction, I had it inserted at 6pm it ended up falling out at 12:00am , I went into labour and delivery, they broke my waters at 3am as I was 3 cm, ended up having an epidural around 10am and was the best thing I ever did as contractions were a nightmare! And my baby was born 9:39pm by c-section (as I had complications) Gas didn’t do anything but make me feel woozy, it’s more of a distraction than anything else! I didn’t have any other pain relief, but I’d do it all over again!

With my first I had the balloon inserted about 5:30pmish the night before it didn’t fall out for me, overnight I was getting period like cramps and was given Panadol to help, for me the balloon was really uncomfortable. I was taken to birth unit at 6-7am where I was examined again I was 3cm so able to have my waters broke, my contractions didn’t start and I had the drip to get labour going. Once in the birth unit I had gas and eventually opted for the epidural and ended up requiring forceps as she didn’t want to move down.
