I know women who have done this exact thing. You can change your name to whatever you’d like so there’s question about it being legal. I’m not an expert as I still haven’t changed my last name 😅 but I wouldn’t think you’d need a new birth certificate as that’s a document of your live birth. You would need a new social security card, passport, license. But don’t take my answer as the end all!
Yes I’ve done that, I did not drop my middle name though I added my maiden name to my middle name. So I have two middle names. Of course it’s legal, you just need to go to the social security office to have it done and get a new social security card then change your drivers license and any bank accounts etc with your new name. You don’t need a new birth certificate just a new social security card.
Name change starts with the social security administration. The SSA will need the reason for the change. If it is due to marriage, you just provide the marriage certificate as proof. Changing your name randomly (not due to marriage) typically requires a court order. Then use the new SS card to update your state ID. You don't change your birth certificate.
You can change your name like that, yes. I cannot confirm for your state/country but where I live, once you change your name* you need all new documentation which includes a new birth certificate.
Yes you absolutely can do that no you won't need to do birth certificate we'll just need your proof of name change along with your birth certificate
You can absolutely do this. All you do is write your name this way on your marriage certificate (replace current middle name with your last name). It’s as simple as that! You don’t need a new birth certificate. You will have to get a new social security card but you have to do that when you change your last name anyways. I know many people who have done this. I chose to keep my last name and have two last names with no hyphen. You can really do whatever you want!
You can name yourself anything when you change your name
If you’re in the US, they wouldn’t change your birth certificate - you would get a new passport, driver’s license, and social security card. But you can definitely do this!
I’m in PA and I completely dropped both my middle name and last name so my social security card now says my first name and my husbands last name only but when I went to go change my ID they put my middle name on my ID. Which is annoying because I’ve always hated my middle name and was elated when it was removed from my social security card lol
But the first place you need to go is the social security office. You need to do this before you change your name anywhere else
This is what I’m going to do. It should be simple to complete if you have your marriage certificate. When I was previously married, I used his last name and dropped mine all together. I had to pay $300+ to get it reverted back to my maiden name after our divorce because he put I was keeping his last name. (I didn’t even know he was divorcing me until after I got a letter stating I was single) But I’m okay with two last names and no middle name for my next marriage. Which is in 5 weeks lol
Yes it is legal to change your name to whatever you want. My husband and I mashed our names together to create a new name instead of hyphenating
If you are in the uk you will need to change your name by deedpoll if you are also changing the middle name
Depends what country you live in to the steps I'm assuming. In the UK you can change your name if it's not just your surname via deed poll. It's quiet simple

Thanks everyone. I’m am in the U.S. the process seems simple and I didn’t know it would be. I appreciate everyone’s input
This is precisely what I did (given name, maiden name, married name). Assuming you're in the US, you'll first need your marriage license to get a new social security card (you'll likely keep your same number). Once you have your new social security card, it makes it easier to then change EVERYTHING ELSE (drivers license, passport, bank accounts, bill accounts, retirement accounts, etc.). It's a lot, lol. Congrats on your marriage!
You can change your name how ever you want.
This is absolutely possible. I don't know all of the steps exactly but my cousin did this a few years ago.
