Moving to Peterborough

My partner and I live in Kent. There is nothing keeping us here and cost of living has sky rocketed. It’s £1400 pcm minimum to rent a 3 bed here. So we were looking where he could transfer in work and Peterborough came up. I wanted to get an idea of what life is like in and around Peterborough for a mummy, is childcare accessible? Is there lots of mummy groups, making friends ect? Could anyone share what life is like where you are? Tia x

Depending on the part of Peterborough you are looking at moving too it depends. Mummy groups I found there weren’t a lot which aren’t accessible (if you don’t drive) usually things are within a walking distance

The rent isn't all that much different here. I've lived in Peterborough since 2008 and I quite like it here. There's quite a few groups in most areas.

I’ve moved out of Peterborough and would say you’re looking at the same, depends where you are baby groups are okay but very minimal (just my opinion) some nice areas but some very bad areas too just do your research on where to go and where not to go

Thank you guys for the information and advice. I looked on rightmove and I’m seeing places as little as £800 a month. Obviously I don’t know areas but that’s £600 difference to the cheapest place in a 10 miles radius from me. So am I just looking at really dodgy areas? Xx

Thank you! It’s so hard when you don’t know the area at all. I really appreciate it. Xx

Which areas in Peterborough are you looking at? It's about £1200/300 for a 3 bed where I am

@Laurie were looking within a 10 mile radius of Peterborough as my other half doesn’t mind a bit of a drive to work. So far we’ve literally just typed in Peterborough on right move and within 10 miles and quite a few of them have popped up xx

Hey ! I have just opened up a cafe called The Play Cafè 🌼 in market deeping. If you’re ever in deeping you should pop in, got mini soft play for preschool age, and a role play room too to try and let the mums drink a hot drink while the kids play haha. xo
