@Ellie I never got any for my first son but I had lots of leakage! I’ve found the best way to get it out for me is to have the c shape with my thumb placed on the top of my boob and squeeze downwards. I chose my left boob purely because I had a bigger supply when BF my son and I just got the 3ml from my left side!x
@Nicole I don’t have trouble getting it out! It’s more that I find it really fiddly getting it IN the syringe 😂 do you express into a cup/spoon and then suck it up? I remember now that was quite a good method with my daughter…
@Ellie yes I have a tiny cup which I express into and then syringe it out once I can get a full syringe out. It was specifically for colostrum!
It’s so encouraging isn’t it! I remember that last time. Not quite at that stage yet (35 weeks) but hopeful I can do the same again. I didn’t get loads but just to know that the body knows what to do is amazing. And breast fed no problem when she arrived.
@Lizzie almost there!! I absolutely loved breastfeeding my first but never collect colostrum for the hospital and I was all stressed because he didn’t latch properly at first! Thought I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed but we managed 11 months, I’m hoping collecting will help me be stress free 🫶🏻
@Ellie I was the same as this but someone on here recommended using a mam bottle lid sterilised to collect it into and it made my life so much easier. Then just suck it into the syringe from there X
Second time mum here so I did manage to do colostrum harvesting last time 😂 but how did you collect it so quickly!? I’ve got no trouble getting colostrum, but half the time is spent sucking up each tiny drop and pushing air back up into the syringe 🤦🏼♀️
