Anyone?.

Soo My daughter is gettin re tested for an iep. When she was two they said she didn't need one. My daughter has high function autism along with a development delay, sensory integration disorder, and mixed receptive-expressive language disorder. She got diagnosed at age 2. We went to ecsc for her to get tested for an iep. And they were like no she can't do the pre-k through us. So I'm goin back in Oct to get her re-tested for an iep. She is about to be 4 so she can start school next year or even this year through the pre-k program through vb public schools maybe this year. She has her 4 year follow up and I want to get a paper written stating my child has to have an iep. By law any with any disability needs an iep when they enter school age. I'm going to be fighting tooth and nail to get her this iep. How many have you been through this? And how many times did you get them tested at ecsc of vb before they gave you an iep for your child?

Hi!!! I’m an expecting mama and also clinical social worker. I worked with children with autism, and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. Look into ABA therapy (Applied behavioral analysis) they will do an assessment and be able to support the diagnosis as well. They have clinic based services and residential services which are very similar to prek programs but specialized for children living with autism. I’d recommend a clinic based service so she gets use to being in a school setting. They’d also support you with getting her prepared for kindergarten and public school settings as well! I hope this helps. Good luck!!

@Nadine she did aba and it was not for us we stayed for a month I have paper work that I'm printing off to bring eith me to the meeting to prove more of my case to them.

I highly suggest you shop around for your ABA providers. Don’t let one company sway you away from the service. Most of the time the schools won’t provide an IEP unless there is evidence of a an educational or behavioral need. If she can function pretty similarly to a child in the same age bracket as her than she might now qualify yet. They really go off of the questionnaires that you filled out for them. That doesn’t mean that she won’t later on. I also recommend looking into speech therapy if she has a language disorder.
