Early scan

Anyone know who I contact to get an early nhs scan. Is it gp or EPU? Had a chemical in June and haven't had a period since. Did a pregnancy test 4 weeks ago and it's positive so have no idea how far along I am? Has anyone else been in the same situation?

Contact your gp- they will ring the unit to refer you in for an early scan x

I was referred to EPU by a GP Try to ring today for emergency GP appointment

You would need to be referred from your GP, but they would only usually see you if you’re bleeding or cramping. Might be different for everywhere though

@Becky Just called gp and they said they don't handle pregnancy stuff. I said not even for a referral she said no😫

I think they only refer you if something could be wrong! I had pain in beginning, they were concerned it was ectopic (it wasnt) Although, they didnt see anything on my scan until I was 6 weeks along!

That’s ridiculous! NHS wales says you go to your gp up until 17 weeks.

@Amy I know I said to her what am I supposed to do then, she said to complete the pregnancy form online and wait for a midwife to contact me. I said, How can I complete the form if one of the required questions are "First Day of your last menstrual period" with no other options? She said idk we dont handle pregnancys🫤

Could you do an early reassurance scan privately? Window to the womb and first encounters are both in cardiff and I’ve used them both, were really good! I was only referred to the EPU when I had bleeding x

You could fill in the form, with the date of your last period - if that was in May they will think you’re quite pregnant and take you in for a scan…. Or the midwife will call you and refer you in.

Thank you all for your help and advice!😊
