Over weight???

Hi Mums 🥺 I'm really conscious that my baby is over weight! When she was born she was 86 percentile, she is now 23 weeks and 98 percentile weighing a whopping 19lb 15 🫣 My HV is super judgy and just don't feel confident / comfortable in having this conversation with her if I'm honest. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is there anything I can do? I don't believe I am "over feeding" her, she typically has around 27-29 oz in a 24 hour period Everyone always says how chunky she is and I don't know if it's because I'm due to come on my period and super hormonal lmao but it's really getting to me today and I have an over whelming sense of guilt like I've done something wrong 🥲

Honestly f them x I refuse to believe someone can call infant overweight ❤️ once she’ll start walking she’ll most likely loose a chunk of her weight! Don’t worry about it specially as there is nothing you can do about it just stay happy and positive ❤️

My little boy is a similar weight right now just turned 5 months but this is my second and I’m not worried this time - my little girl started on 50 centile and then gradually crept up and up to 91st! Which passing 2 centile lines was a concern! However when I went to my health visitor (luckily a good one) she measured head and height had done the same so was proportional which is what was more important! When she was a year old she was a little chunky monkey but she soon evened out and I never restricted food or anything just kept a balanced diet without too much rubbish food (I’ll add some pics to show you) like you say she isn’t eating too much so try not to stress xx

@Wiktoria this is my mindset 95% of the time, I think I'm just hormonal and that little bit of concern creeping in and just derailing me 😩😅

@Hollie oh I'm so glad your little one is similar in weight.. I've seen some posts on here and other mum friends I have and the panic just set in that their little ones were quite a few pounds lighter. I do believe she is quite tall so most of the time I haven't really let it bother me as my whole pregnancy they were concerned about me / her measuring small, was predicted I would have a 5 percentile baby so when she came out and 8lb 6oz and 86 percentile the shock was real so I do try take this generic measuring system with a pinch of salt but that little part of me also panicking that I shouldn't be so blazay about it either

@Wiktoria @Hollie thank you both for your kind words and reassurance 🥺 xxx

I wouldn’t worry as long as she’s following her centile line! Some babies are just built differently. My 17 month old weighs and is the same height of the average 2 year. And has always been on the 96th centile line. My 5 month is tiny and he sits happily on his 25th line. If they’re happy and healthy that’s what matters most x

I had a 50th centile baby who has now risen to 98th and is 11kg at 6 months. The health visitor was concerned that he crossed over 2 centile lines so referred us to GP as a precaution. He said that some babies just grow quicker and will likely plateau especially once they start moving. He referred us to a Paediatrician, again just to be sure and he has said the same thing - especially as height, weight and head are all in proportion. He’s going to do a blood test just to make sure there are no thyroid issues but said he isn’t concerned. Someone has to be in the top centiles ☺️

Also worth baring in mind I read tthey still use the same graph that I think was made in like the 70s and generally people are a lot taller than they used to be and therefore going to weigh more too even as babies! Xx

Oh girl that’s nothing to my baby. He was born on 50th. And he’s 24 weeks and he is 23.15. He’s over the centile lines. And bc of he puts nearly 1 pound on nearly a week. He has to have barely any milk and he has to have 3-4 meals a day xx
