Is my Dr right or just rude?

Saw my new GP the other day and when reviewing my notes saw that I’m a high risk pregnancy. He asked if it was because of my age. Being 29, I was confused and explained that it’s because of preexisting conditions. I thought this was a common age to be a first time mom but he kept going on and on about health risks of having an “older pregnancy.” I really don’t need anything else to worry about baby’s health but now he’s in my head. Someone tell me he’s just an idiot please 🙏

Sounds like hes just letting you know the risks

Sounds like a poopyface. High risk is usually 35 and older. I hate it when they say geriatric pregnancy to me but I am 35. Insurances also consider 35 and older to be high risk, not 29.

But i also dont like men doctors because of they word things. I prefer females

Yea thats crazy, geriatric pregnancy is after the age of 35. Unless you have other health issues it can come with a lot of preemptive measures that they take usually wouldn’t do in a non geriatric pregnancy.

I am considered high risk due to my Graves disease. I am 30 and am not high risk due to age. Your new GP sounds like he's a dick.

@Asia me too for sure. “He’s mostly an any port in a storm” kind of situation. Having trouble getting a hold of my epilepsy medication and I won’t be able to get in with a neurologist till after baby is born, so tried getting it filled by a GP, but turns out he’s rude and useless. Thank yall i thought I was going crazy

I would ask for a different doctor. I’m 33 and I’m a high risk pregnancy due to losing my last to during my pregnancy

Since age is not why you are high risk, I would guess he is saying it to make you realize to not wait "too long" for any subsequent pregnancies. I'm 33 and although I'm also high risk for other reasons, they still mention my age since I'd be over 35 for any subsequent pregnancies (but I don't plan to have anymore, so I don't really care and let them to their little speech about age)

@Angie yeah, my husband and I have only wanted our one and only since we met. Tried telling him that and got the whole “you might change your mind” speech. God I am so sick of that line.

Just rude! Thats nuts

Switch doctors. That’s ridiculous. I had my first at 31 not once did my OB mention I’m high risk because of my age.

Wow! I’m 39 and my OB has never said anything about my age. This doctor seems to be a bit off in his age ranges.
