Formula dilemma

I’m due for an elective c-section on Thursday at the LGI, in case my milk doesn’t come in on time I bought formula. Unfortunately it is powdered formula and I just read on NhS website that the LGI doesn’t have the means for me to prepare powdered formula. How could I pre-make bottles or has anyone successfully used powdered formula?

It's best to buy the ready made bottles that come with the teats that you can use straight away xx

I did the same. But the baby refused the formula and hatched a few times until the milk came. (Was quite painful at the beginning but it started to improve after a couple of weeks, now all is fine)

Try not to stress. Your milk will take a few days to come in properly but it's very unlikely that it won't at all! Baby will just get colostrum from you until then x

I took ready made bottles a few months ago when I had my c section at LGI. But they had premade bottles for babies. I should also mention that there is a kitchen in each of the wards mums stay at and that’s got kettle and fridge. Mums can make tea and toast for themselves or keep their own food in there. A lot of the mums used the kettle in there to make bottles.

My milk didn’t come through until a week after having little one but I wouldn’t worry I used the pre made milk with the tears until I got home and found it cheaper to buy powder. I had to choose not to try breast feed due to being hospitalised with pancreatitis (not pregnancy related)and they wouldn’t have been able to give me morphine or anything if I was breast feeding x

They will recommend you to bring your own formula, but if you do not have they will provide for you.

Just buy ready made. You will not want to be doing powder.
