I have a Question:

Does anyone any have an autistic child who is still in pull-ups that attends preschool? If so does the school charge an extra fee because they are in pull-ups and not potty trained? My son is 5 years old. I just had to remove my son from school because they were asking for an additional copayment of $50 a week because my son is in pull-ups and not potty trained smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ 😔

I'm pretty sure that's illegal. This is a medical need.

My daughter is autistic. Last year she was 5 and in kindergarten. She wore a pullup over underwear incase she had a bowel movement accident . They did not charge me also I'm pretty sure like someone else commented is illegal .

Autism teacher here. Is it a public school? Typically if they are kinder age that’s still developmentally appropriate but after kindergarten they just need a doctors note and parent signature if the child cannot change themselves

Can an IEP meeting be called to add her toileting needs to her IEP?

@Melanie I’m sorry let me rephrase my post .. he is in preschool. Family owned.

@DanielleMeghan he has a IEP.. I’m going to see if it’s on his IEP. I think it is.

@Jasmine that’s a little more challenging. If it’s a private preschool not funded by the public school system they can do that. However I personally do not agree with it as it’s developmentally appropriate for a child not to be fully potty trained at that age. If your child has an IEP; try to get services from the state! There are preschool programs that can follow their individualized plans!

@Melanie thank you. I will look into that.

@Melanie ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@Jasmine I spent 13 years teaching in Virginia and have only within the last year moved back to Pennsylvania but please reach out if I can help you in any way!

@Melanie thank you so much ❤️🥰

The center I work at for preschool charges everyone who is not potty trained the toddler rate and a 13 dollar fee because we provide the diapers and wipes. If you are providing the diapers and wipes I don’t see why they would be charging extra.
