Start of labour?

Hi all am a first time mum, I woke today feeling so unwell, it’s much of a discomfort than pain. I discharge mucus today, am having a period cramps and it’s making do things cos I can’t sit, sleep or stand so have decided to prepare my meals and do the laundry. Is it sign of labour? Do I need to call the triage?

If in doubt contact triage!! It could be your body prepping though! how many weeks are you? im 38 weeks and get back ache, period like cramps. You could keep an eye on it, If you feel they are intensifying as time goes on then call triage but if after a bit the pain disappears for a while but then might come back later that day its most likely your body getting ready for labour! I’m a first time mum as well so have no idea what actual contractions will feel like but so far mine have just been dull period cramps which goes away after abit and then might come back later on in the evening.

Have you tried timing the intervals that the cramps are coming ? I gave birth Tuesday & on Monday I lost my plug & the cramps started at my back & worked toward the front lasting about 50 secs & then would go & there was a gap in between of roughly 10mins , then they started getting closer and closer and more intense . Always worth a phone call to the midwife / MAU if your not sure xx

Thank you all so much. Am 38+5 and lost my mucus yesterday. Today have been having back pain and period cramps. I phone triage so I was asked to come for an induction tomorrow hopefully I will get to see my little one sooner than later. Am so tired and it literally made me do so many stuffs cos I hardly slept, sit or stand and have been literally walking around the house so am pretty much sure after induction tomorrow my little one will be here on Sunday
