Hi everyone.
I’m just curious if anyone has info after being referred to gynea for testing for recurrent miscarriages with the NHS?
What it entails and what was your outcome?
Thank you 🥰

They'll take details of family history, do a uterus check (internal scan) and blood tests. Mine came back showing no reasons for the recurrent miscarriages and I was advised to take progesterone pessaries as soon as I had a positive pregnancy test. After quite a wait I then went on to have 2 successful pregnancies

thank you for replying! I’ve had a successful pregnancy before but recently had 2 in a row and even though they say 3 for referral they did it anyway because I’m in my 30s now. Did you still try to conceive during testing or while you waited to be seen? Xx

@Lisa we kept actively trying throughout all of it. I had 2 miscarriages and then couldn't get pregnant for a year after that too and as I was 35 I got the referral straight away

oh that’s good to hear! I’m glad you’ve had your rainbow babies 🥰 I don’t know if I can actively try right now incase I have a 3rd miscarriage I feel like it’ll send me over the edge in a bad way mentally you know :( it’s been traumatic enough as it is which I’m sure you understand the feeling xx

absolutely! It's so important to look after your mental and physical health with everything! Do what's right for you and your family. I hope it all works out for you xx

I’m in the same boat!

I’m sorry to hear that! It’s awful and so frustrating that’s it’s unexplained at the moment… I have just had another positive test currently 4wks 4days but hard to be excited yet, just hoping this one sticks tbh 🤞🏻

fingers crossed for you!
We found out we were pregnant again the day before our RMC appointment with nhs and also had private tests done. Had scan at EPU last week and they couldn’t see heart yet so got to go back to find out if 3rd miscarriage or was just too early!

thank you I have everything crossed!
Awh bless you, I hope it was just too early you! Xx

how was it? I hope it went well, I wonder if anyone managed to keep the pregnancy without the progesterone. I am going through a miscarriage and doctor today was skeptical about progesterone when I told him I used for my only alive baby. Had 3 early miscarriages before.

hey im so sorry to hear you’re going through an mc 😟, I’m currently 19 weeks now so I assume my referral to them will have been taken off now but I’m not 100% about that! I was prescribed progesterone and was supposed to use it until 16 weeks but tbh I only did it for a few weeks before I stopped, as I had a scan with epu and all was ok

yes I used it with my previous pregnancy from week 5 (6 according to scan dating) until week 14-15, I was willing to try after 3 miscarriages, then I started to worry it could have side affects in future and didn’t want to continue to 16 weeks. I now wonder if that helped the foetus develop in the beginning because we tried for a second baby now and I got pregnant straightaway but it seems it stopped growing at week 5. This doctor talked about chromosomal abnormalities (standard speech) and about my age, but I conceived my baby at 42, I was considered old back then too. This doctor who checked me yesterday was saying they don’t test for progesterone because it changes daily but yet it is essential for the foetus to develop so I see there are contractions there. I wonder if anyone after recurrent miscarriages has had a successful pregnancy without the progesterone but I guess anyone in that situation would be desperate to try anything as I was before my baby.

I used it till 16 weeks and deffo thing jt really helped!
