Theyāre all quite honestly a joke but pasture raised is your best bet. Pasture raised have more room (at least 108 square feet) to actually live happily, while free range can mean as little as 2 square feet per chicken. My honest opinion is to find local home raised or farm raised eggs where they donāt use antibiotics or other harmful treatments. Iād sell mine to you but Iām in South Carolinaš
Donāt trust anything that says organic. Thereās no true regulation and many are scamming consumers just to charge more. Brown and white are from different breeds, so donāt fall for that either.
And Iām about to blow your mind with home grown, antibiotic free egg facts: they last like a month out of the refrigerator unwashed. You wash them when youāre ready to use them (Amazon has a cool little egg washer). Or you can refrigerate them (still unwashed) to last around 3 months. Theyāre so much runnier, deep yellow and rich that store eggs make me want to barf now with no flavor and who knows what else injected into them.
Find someone local to sell you some home-grown chicken eggs. Failing that, pasture-raised are the best bet. Everything else is varying degrees of horrific.

Free range is legally "no more than 10,000 hens per hectare" or something in Australia, but, our options are Caged, Barn Laid (so crammed in a barn but not a cage) or free range. So I buy free range. You can research individual suppliers, some are a lot kinder to the hens.
