Period

I am on birth control, still producing 25 ounces of milk a day, and suddenly got my period! Anyone else with similar experience? I was so surprised!

Why is that a surprise?

I have been told that if you are breast feeding you are less likely to have your period, and since I am also on a birth control to not get my period it feels kinda bizarre.

Ahh the birth control makes sense. Breastfeeding does make it less likely but some people don't see any difference in their periods at all.

The less likely to get your period while bfing is not true for everyone- I’m exclusively BFing and got my period back at exactly 8 weeks and I’ve gotten it every month like clockwork since (5 months PP)

I exclusively breasfed (well... Pumped) for 11 months and used a freezer stash for the last month before introducing whole milk at 12 months. Its been almost 2 months since I've stopped breastfeeding and still havent gotten my period. Recently switched birth control back to what I was on before we had our baby (purposefully got off the bc to get pregnant) so I have no idea when its coming 😅

@Stephanie unrelated to period but how did you exclusively pump for 11m?? I’m at month 9 and giving up! It’s so exhausting to pump every few hours 😢😢 this is my second baby and I exclusively breastfed my first for 16months which I was very proud of and feeling so guilty with giving up with my little girl!! She is taking solids better than my older one did so weaning her might be easier ..?

@Neha 9 months is still an achievement! I was lucky in that I was an overproducer. I produced a little over double what my daughter needed. I donated a ton, but when I started having horrible issues with one breast, I stopped donating as much and started a big stash so I could stop pumping earlier than 12 months. Once I established my supply, I only had to pump 5 times a day but when the issues started I went down to 4 times and then 3 and then 2 on the issus side and 3 on the good side. It was honestly a lot of tears and frustration and every day my husband was off work, he would solo watch our daughter so I could pump alone and just dissociate through it because I was so done long before 11 months...
