@Amy i’d honestly love to have a midwife, but unfortunately we are fairly low income and couldn’t afford it.
Midwives are now covered by Alberta healthcare and I would highly suggest you go that route if you’re low risk. I absolutely love our midwife.
@Amanda Oohh i might just check it out then cause id love to go the midwife route this time around!! Ill look into it for sure<33
@Caidy apply asap! They are usually very busy! Start looking online and filling forms for midwifery :)
Dr Wynne Leong! I had her as a fluke (I was with midwives, and for the actual show they had to transfer my care to her). Everyone I’ve talked to about OB’s and when I’ve mentioned Dr. Leong they’ve talked very highly of her - plus my experience with her was very positive.
If you’re even the slightest bit curious about having a midwife- apply to each and every clinic you’re open to travelling to for the best outcome at getting a call back as they fill up quick. I was with briar hill midwives for both of my pregnancies and they were great ☺️ for maternity clinics I’ve heard good things about Riley park, I believe they’re self referral https://www.alberta-midwives.ca/request-care Congratulations! 💗
Also check out Keramiko, the Alex, and/or Families Matter SYP program! They’re awesome supports for young mamas that I’d highly recommend! (I’ve been to keramiko and was in the SYP program, a mama friend had a birth doula for free through the Alex and said it was great)
Dr. Sun at the Sunnyside office delivered J, and the people who worked with me there during my pregnancy were really awesome. I was SW too before I moved!
Have you considered a midwife ?
