Holiday advice 🏖🌴

Has anyone taken their little ones abroad yet and have any advice please as im getting myself in a right tizz stressing? We are going to menorca in a few weeks and is looking to be about 25 degrees. (Not sure why I'm stressing we've had hotter days here). The following are my major concerns but any other advice that I haven't thought of will be much appreciated. 1) snooze shade? So many mixed reviews are they safe for short periods of time or do they overheat. 2) insect repellant? Anyone found anything that can be used at 4 months and actually works. Also should I get a net for the stroller and cot? 3) car seats in hold on the plane? We are putting a car seat in hold luggage as the taxis there don't provide car seats. It is a spare so I'm not overly worried if it gets lost damaged We are only taking it just in case we need a taxi. Do I need to buy a bag for it to go in or will they let it on just as it is?

Following x I’m also going to Menorca for a few days in the last week of October

I'm in Spain with my almost 5 month old and almost 2 year old now. 1. I didn't use a snooze shade have hats and umbrellas.Have been sitting in the shade. I have portable fans to help keep him cool. 2. Also could not find repellent for he's age so I brought a net. 3.Hired a car seat from the airport. Not sure if u need a bag. It's a lot easier then thought it was going to be. Hope you have a lovely holiday xx

Just got back from Mallorca. Buy a bag for the car seat and you can shove nappies in - 2nd child and never been checked! I bought a baby insect repellent - would recommend as there were loads of bugs. He did get bitten twice but didn’t bother him x

I went to Spain last month, my little girl was 3 months old like you my car seat was a spare I just put it in the hold as it is no bag or anything and it’s not damaged or anything. I bought a buggy buddy sun shade for my girls pram and that worked well ! Sorry I didn’t use any insect replant so carnt answer that one aha x

Did anyone take their normal pram instead of a travel one? I have the Ickle bubba pram and I worry it’ll get damaged in the hold. Don’t really want to buy a travel pram as this one is brand new and hardly used

Currently in Greece now with my 18 week old, temperature has been around 36/38 degrees in the day and around 28/30 of an evening. To answer your questions I never used a snooze shade, I brought one with me but haven’t touched it, I was told by a pharmacist not to use insect repellent or the patches at all until 6 months, he doesn’t seem to have been bitten at all 🤞🏽 and lastly I wouldn’t bother with a car seat if it’s only a possibility your getting a taxi. Just have them on your lap if you are going to, it’s just such an added bulky item to be taking in my opinion! Few tips of my own, even though it’s a lot cooler where your going I would avoid loads of outfits and stick to vests as they will be cooler, if your formula feeding be sure to check the sodium and magnesium in the water x

Thank you all so much. I'm starting to think I can survive tgis now 🤣🤣 @Annie we have borrowed one from a friend who's son has grown out of it as I didn't want to buy a new one but they don't put them on until you get to the gates so I think they are more careful than with suitcases. @Elena thankyou. I won't bother with the snoozeshade then as menorca is alot cooler. We love Greece, normally go to corfu and hoping to go there next year when we have tackled a shorter flight first. In menorca apparantly its law that they have to have a car seat to go in taxis. Do you know how low the sodium and magnesium has to be please? I asked health visitor but she just said buy evian but no idea if that will be easily available xx

1. Snoozeshade was fab for walking in direct sunlight (never overheated once but I had pram fan on and opened the top of buggy hood so I could see baby if that makes sense?) 2. Vie baby products for repellent 3. We wrapped ours in bubble wrap as it was expensive, then in a car seat bag that we got online quite cheap Spanish recommended bottled water is Bezoya or Font Vella for formula x

Well going home tomorrow and think I have survived. Bought evian water Bought a orzbow sunshade and it was fab and also helped him sleep Got vie baby insect repellent and a net and he hadn't had a bite although we have (it stinks though so we rubbed it in with out hands outside) Car seat and buggy we're fine in the hold but didn't use the car seat as transfers were ready for us to go Top tip is take neurofen as baby got his first cold whilst here and they don't sell it so couldn't alternate with the calpol we had 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
