Lock smith

I locked myself out of my car, my keys and phone were in there. I tried calling my husband from a stranger's phone and it felt like my only option was to call a lock smith. It cost me 300$ to get my car open. It felt like a lot, does anyone know if this was a reasonable amount? I feel so sad this was such an expensive mistake. I don't have AAA so that wasn't an option.

One of the guys tried to overcharge my mother in law. They wanted her to pay a thousand dollars just to pop the lock. $300 is better than what they tried to charge. They even followed us to her place demanding her to go to the ATM and pull the money out. She is on a fixed income and she only gets $23 a month for food stamps.

I had to call locksmith once for my grandma as she left her keys inside her car. I believe they charged about $150. She doesn’t have triple A either.
