Pre-k question..

Do you think it’s strange that my child’s school told me to pick him up at 12pm instead of him doing the whole day(which ends at 2:50) because he doesn’t nap and they don’t want him disrupting the kids that are trying to nap? They also said they wanted to talk to me about his behavior… after getting to the school they said when I drop him off he throws himself on the floor and cries because he doesn’t want to stay, and it’s not ok. She then said it usually last about 1-2 mins and then he’s fine. Idk I didn’t see a need to bring that up to me of course he’s gonna be sad this is his first time in school I don’t understand why that would be a behavior concern. I asked if she had any other issues behavior wise and she said no, he’s great.

It’s weird that they would say, “it’s not okay.” Like, what are you going to do about it? He’s a kid with feelings. It will probably stop in a week or so. My son is still in preschool and the transition to school is rough. Weeks in, he still wants to stay home. He does really well in school, but cries at drop off. Like, my son is autistic, but he’s a human who has feelings, just like your kiddo. Picking him up early does make sense if he doesn’t nap. Maybe try teaching him to do a quiet time at home? If he can chill out on his mat and read a book quietly, that might be an option for back at school.
