Question?

Any moms in GA adopted a child through foster care? My husband and I are very interested in adopting a baby/child in the near future. But I’d love some more advice and guidance on it from moms who have actually done it. I’ve heard and researched that adoption through foster care is more affordable and a little less stressful but again I don’t know much about all this. So if some moms are willing to give me some knowledge on it I’d be grateful! 🫶🏽 thanks!

My sister is going through that currently but it is kinship adoption. It’s a very beautiful yet difficult journey.

Used to work for a foster and adoption agency: It is most affordable but they always look for some kind of family member to adopt the child. Seemed like even a long lost cousins at times. Kinship is where the baby is placed with a family member so it's almost a guaranteed adoption.

Some people are able to do it and some not. I'd fall too in love with the child. Just because a child is placed with you doesn't mean you'll be able to adopt them unfortunately is the sad truth with that. Kinship is almost a guaranteed adoption after placement. Just saying so you are prepared!

@Stephanie I talked with a lady earlier today at a foster agency and she told me going through foster parenting with CPS is the best option for adoption.

I'm interested as well. I have a 1 month old son but my boyfriend and I are talking about adopting

@Séline Ivy Escudero keep in mind every single foster care agency gets paid every time CPS uses their agency to place a child with one of their foster parents. It's the lowest cost option to adopting, but working in 2 agencies I could never go back. I saw waaaay too many heartbroken foster parents. After community service or whatever the parent needs to do to gain custody back they can get their child back as well. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but just want you to be prepared going into it.
