Breastfeeding is hard!

Hi guys, I’m 3 weeks into breastfeeding and I’m finding it so hard. My baby has been cluster feeding almost everyday from about 8pm-12/1am and then wakes every hour/two hours during the night. I’m finding it so hard and I find I have no energy at the minute. Would pumping and giving him breast milk in a bottle in the evenings before bed help with cluster feeding?

Breast feeding is hard! It gets easier once they are 2.5-4 months. Giving expressed milk before bedtime can help but it depends on the baby. We have been doing that since week 2 and our baby has slept for 4-5 hrs since week 3 and has gone longer as they have become older. But I also know people for which this doesn’t work but it’s worth a shot. We give another bottle in the middle of the night and get another 2-4 hrs. But during the day we feed every 1.5 to 2 hrs for a 5 month old so they consume all their calories during the day

It’s so hard! Cluster feeding can still happen, even with bottles. They won’t necessarily drink more ounces in one go. It could give you a break if you have a stash and someone else can feed at night while you get a little sleep. I personally don’t love pumping and cleaning. It’s simpler for me to breast feed. But it is so so draining. Comfy chair, trashy tv shows, and lots of water and snacks got me through the cluster feeds. It feels like it will never end, but it will regulate!
