Biting at pre school

My son started preschool this week and today he got bitten by a special needs child. He was very upset and cried when he got home as well as at school. I understand that SEN children will do certain behaviours without understanding so I don’t blame the child but I wanted to ask do special needs children have a one-to-one key person? I’m only asking this because from the mark you can tell that he was bitten for a long long, long time. I was happy that he was enjoying Pre School, but I do not want him to now feel unsafe. TIA x

Show your support

Whether or not a child has one-to-one support will depend on the level of their needs. You’d be best off talking to the pre-school about what precautions they can take to reduce the chances of this happening again to any of the children.

@Sophie thank you for your reply. I called the manager and she said she would keep an eye on both the boys. I definitely think precautions should be taken especially if they now know he has tendencies to bite his peers.
