Preparing toddler for baby’s arrival

I am 16 weeks pregnant with a 20 month old and really need some advice on how to prep my toddler for baby’s arrival. I bought a baby doll and pretended to feed the baby today and my son sobbed. He also saw me holding a friends baby and had the biggest tantrum. I want to prepare him the best I can! What can I do!!

For my daughter, instead of focusing on the baby, I've been focusing on her saying "you're going to be a big sister" and talking about how she can help and interact with the baby so that it feels like something exciting for her. She's now very excited about being able to hold the baby, and she talks about when he has a nappy change she can help bring the nappy. To me it's all about talking it over from their point of view, and avoid framing it as there being a baby that mummy has to care for instead. Instead focus on what they can do to help, and saying "you're going to be a brilliant big sister/brother because you're kind/caring/helpful" etc to make them feel good about themselves and what's about to happen

I love this @Emma 🌱 !! I will definitely change the way I talk about things ☺️ Thankyou!
