What qualifies as back to back pregnancies, does that make a difference? My eldest is currently 16 months and came at 37 weeks! I’m planning a water birth I wonder if that’s the same 🤷♀️
I’ve noticed in my career that most women always convince themselves they’re going to have their baby early and have all the “labour signs” but end up disappointed because 90% of the time it’s just pregnancy symptoms 😂 though I did convince myself my first baby would be early and he came at 38 weeks and I’ve convinced myself again this baby will be early.. so I’m guilty of it too!!
I felt like this for the first time yesterday. Like suddenly it dawned on me, right at the middle of the farm ‘What if I went into labour right now?’ 😂😂 like now I’ve got to face the fact I actually have to push a baby out x
@Rachel when I said back to back I meant I was pregnant again with my 2nd less than 4 months postpartum with my 1st. getting pregnant with less than 6 months between pregnancies runs a higher risk of preterm labor and small birth weight (which is why I’m convinced my October baby will come early). Back labour is when babies spine is against your spine and they face your belly (super painful contractions as they tend to double peak when baby is positioned like this).
@Shannon so conceiving at 10/11 months, is that classed as back to back ?
@Rachel yes still considered back to back, the American College of Obstetrics (I happen to be American so tend to check those sources first) Says anything less than 18 months between birth and next conception is considered back to back. NHS doesn’t really say much except about added risks for conception under 6 months postpartum. Anything over 6 months doesn’t carry as much risk if previous deliveries were vaginal. Risk is still high till 18 months if there was a previous c-section though.
Thank you !!
I keep doing this as I really want an October baby so every twinge I'm like omg no hold this baby in 🤣
I’ve been convinced I’m going to go early! I’m 35 + 4 today and had back to back pregnancies my oldest turned one last Wednesday. I was convinced I’d go early with my first and was sooo stressed about it. I’ve decided no matter how bad the Braxton Hicks or prodromal labour gets I’m going to ignore all signs and symptoms and not track contractions on my app until it’s obvious or until I get to 5-1-1. (At this point I’m likely to be at leased 36 weeks before anything happens and that is typically the week that doctors aren’t real worried about babies lungs if labour was to start). I need to be 37 weeks to use the midwife unit with the pool at my hospital, I am unsure if I want to attempt labor there or go straight to L&D as I am likely to want an epidural. I think we are just at the point we are done with this pregnancy and our bodies are gearing up for labour and it’s just a total mind game at this point! Every twinge could be labour or it could just be normal last few weeks symptoms. 😂
