Flying

Hiya, I’m 10 + 1 and going on holiday on Wednesday… Will I be okay flying? Is it safe? Is there anything I should get for the flight?

How long will your flight be? If it’s more than 4/5 hours you may want to try things like compression stockings but best talk to your midwife to check first as sometimes they do prescribe meds in some cases too. I’m looking at booking a holiday for when I’ll be around 16 weeks, initially was going for a 10 hour flight and then thought it’s way too much so may just do a 3-4 hour flight instead

When I was pregnant with my first we went to Copenhagen (2 hour flight) when I was about 24 weeks then we went to Mauritius (12 hour flight) when I was 27/28 weeks. I wore compression socks for the latter but I spoke to my midwife at the time and she said it was fine ☺️ maybe just have some sickness bags on hand if you’re still having nausea etc I also went away last week at about 8 weeks with this pregnancy and it was fine 😄

Ahhhhh I’m 10+1 too 🥰 When I was pregnant with my first I did a six hour flight to NYC at 19 weeks and all was fine. Midwife told me to get some compression socks for the flight and I’d recommend comfy clothes, loose waistbands and baggy tops - it’s uncomfortable enough when you’re not pregnant. But otherwise you’ll be fine. The only time they advise against flying is if you have any high risk issues that would make it dangerous and/or right at the end of your pregnancy. That aside.. all is good. Hope it’s for something fun xx
