Kicks or Gas

I finished eating my lunch about an hour ago, since then on/off I’ve been feeling little bubbles in between my ribs and belly button (so higher abdomen) Could this be first feeling of movements or just gas/digestion? 🤣 won’t be offended either way so honest opinions please! I’m 18 weeks 5 days xx

Most likely gas or other body changes… the fundal height (top of uterus) is still sitting just below the belly button at this stage. Average is by 20 weeks it’s about the height of the belly button so baby is still quite low. Though of course other organs etc. are pushing up. But based on where you’ve felt bubbles, it’s unlikely to be baby. They don’t get closer to the ribs until the third trimester. But you are in the zone of first movement and so will feel baby soon or may already be too and not realising.

Thank you 🥰 I thought it was too high to be baby but a couple of colleagues said it was most likely baby so thought I’d ask here with people who are just going through it or have just gone through it z

I usually feel bubbles very low down so yeah most likely gas

Of course - it’s so hard to know and it could always be but most likely not that high up. I mean some people argue that any sensations are technically pregnancy related so baby but I like to be sure it’s baby because otherwise I’d panic if I felt something, thought it was baby and then didn’t feel it again. Even though there might be small things you miss, there will come a time when they move and you will for sure know it’s baby and given your weeks it’ll be close now! My last pregnancy I went to my 20 week scan thinking I might’ve felt something but not 100% but then by 22 weeks it was very obvious. This time I’m 17 weeks and think I feel the odd thing but not letting myself think it’s baby yet as too inconsistent and not obvious enough. It’d cause me more anxiety so just trying to keep counting down the days/weeks until I’m in the zone of more regular movement.

I know what you mean about people saying everything is pregnancy related, in a way yes, but it’s not what we’re meaning is it! Like if this was gas it’s most likely caused by being pregnant and everything being squished, but it’s not the baby movements I’m thinking of/asking about! Fingers crossed it’s soon as I’m desperate to feel her moving 🥰 x

I feel them right above my pubic bone
