Exercise

Pre pregnancy I was at the gym 4/5 days a week and running regularly around 8-12km. I’m 14 weeks pregnant and still really struggling to exercise. Is anyone else struggling with this or is anyone else still running making it to the gym regularly? It’s really getting me down. I want to stay active throughout the pregnancy. I went for a run Monday and could only manage 3.5km. Last week I got to the gym a couple of times and thought I was on the up and back at it. This week I’m struggling again.

I'm hoping to get back into it this week. Been feeling sick and tired for the last 5 weeks but getting a little bit better now.

i haven’t been to the gym at all so far in this pregnancy and don’t plan to until after i give birth. i’ve just been letting my body rest because i have felt so low energy so im not forcing myself to exercise. i think just listening to your body and don’t put so much pressure on yourself x

I’m very active and I’ve had 2 pregnancies in the last 4 years. (Not currently pregnant). First trimester I can barely exercise, I have naps instead 😂

Second trimester I find my strength slowly comes back and I feel really good past 14/16 weeks. At ~20 weeks I started only doing Pilates or yoga if it was pregnancy specific. I usually stopped running around 7 months and switched to swimming or stationary cycling. Around the beginning of third trimester I focused on pregnancy specific classes or programs. There are some great pilates-like birth prep courses.
Then I slowly build up postpartum. After my second my cardiovascular capacity felt really good again by 6 months. Though I still need to rebuild my glutes.

I love variety, so I found it really fun to try new things. Pregnancy made familiar exercises feel new again.

Focus on moving in a way that feels good at each stage. Each week may feel different. I found first trimester the hardest.

I probably averaged exercise 1-2 times a month in first trimester. But exercised at least 3 times a week in my ninth month. The first 16 weeks are *rough*

this is reassuring thank you, I’m just out of the first trimester and with a boost of energy last week I thought I was out of the worst of. Hopefully in a week or so I feel more energy coming back again. X

You’re welcome! Happy to chat if that helps. I found it hard to navigate in my first pregnancy since most people I knew weren’t as active, and it was hard to find clear information online.

i find that really reassuring too. I was so determined to stay active and I’ve had no energy, inclination or motivation to do anything. The most I manage is a dog walk, and I swam a bit in the beginning. I’m really hoping my sickness eases off soon and I can ease back into some exercise. I miss running, swimming, and i really want to restart yoga. But I’m also listening to my body and at the moment, it just wants rest ❤️

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Constant braxton hicks!

I’m 29 weeks tomorrow and they are constant especially when I’m walking about!

This didn’t start happening until I was like 36 weeks with my son 😩

Anyone else the same?
