Should I be nervous?!

This pregnancy is so much different than my first last year. I'm 34 weeks but experiencing bleeding hemorrhoids and today my ankles (or should I say cankles?) got really swollen and they haven't gotten better after over an hour of lying down on the couch with my feet elevated on pillows. I'm just not sure what to do, maybe I'll call the OB in the morning to make sure. Of course my husband and I are on vacation out of state (my OB said travel and flying were fine) and I feel like I've been mostly resting! There have been several 1-2 hour bouts of slow walking with plenty of drinking water and resting between activities. It feels super low key compared to my usual activity levels.... Although it is more walking and standing than I was doing as a pregnant SAHM with my 11 month old. Is it all in my head and these are normal end of pregnancy things?

Unfortunately both things you described are normal. My feet don’t always go back down till multiple hours of elevation. If you traveled to somewhere hotter or more humid that will affect the swelling as well. Hemorrhoids are also completely normal due to the added blood flow and pressure there. Sorry you are uncomfortable though! Try epsom salt soaks for the feet!

Thanks @Aubry ! Yes Epsom salt baths provide a lot of comfort. It is hotter and more humid here, plus eating out more = saltier diet :/. I'll just try to elevate more and drink water and maybe look at some compression socks. I just anxiously read a bunch of articles on swelling and pregnancy and they all agree with you, seems pretty normal! Thanks for responding :)

As long as you aren’t experiencing any other concerning symptoms (severe headache that doesn’t go away, blurred vision, etc), this seems like normal pregnancy edema to me. The last 2 months of pregnancy with my daughter, my feet were so swollen, I only had one pair of slides that still fit and even those left imprints 😅

My first pregnsncy i went from size 7.5 to size 9 shoes. My feet never really went down....just watxhed my salt, got socks and everychance i got i elevated

For me, this was my first sign of preeclampsia but then again for some people it is very normal. But my feet were very very swollen. Watch out for headaches, pain under your ribs and be sure to test your blood pressure. And keep and eye out for swolleness elsewhere. Keep your doc in the loop and if anything changes call them. No need to worry. They'll let you know if anything.

My ankles and feet were swollen nearly the whole time I went somewhere humid and hotter than my normal climate. But went away instantly when I was back.
