Medicine for teething

My 2.5 year old is teething bad! His last two molar teeth and until now he never really ‘teethed badly’ in giving him Calpol to keep fever at bay and neurofen to the pain but conscious Iv given a few doses in the past two days and he’s only calm and happy when he has neurofen. Otherwise he won’t play, eat, sleep. He’s dribbling ALOTTT but won’t take any teethers and hates ice cream/ice lollies.. really not sure what to do to help him? I don’t want to keep giving medicine. I used anbesol as well to numb gums but again don’t want to be giving it too much… any tips? :(

He shouldn't be getting a fever with teething. Are you sure it's not something else as well as teething? We used to use Ashton & Parsons teething powder with our little boy, but it stopped working for him when he turned about 18 months.

@Rachel ummmm little ones can get fevers with teething. It’s quite common actually. My little guy would get low grade ones when his teeth were cutting through.

Try homeopathic chamomilla. If it’s really intense teething (sounds like it is) homeopathic belladonna is fantastic. You can order from Helios UK and they do have a helpline too to guide you. Both of these worked amazingly for our little guy. We didn’t give him calpol or anything other than these. He cut 4 molars at once and that was brutal tbh.

@Ali my little boy never got a fever & I have never heard of a fever being attributed to teething before. A doctor will tell you the same thing.

Lots of HF&M going about. We had the worst week with our little girl last year around this time, thought it was teething as just as you described, the dribbling was crazy. Then I realised she had all these ulcers in her mouth, then the spots appeared around mouth, hands and butt not feet. I do know they can get like this with teething, but something to also consider too. Hope it passes quickly for you. Anbesol liquid is great, at their age only need a little bit on your little finger and then in the affected area of their mouth. Really numbs, I have used on my own ulcer 😂

Belladonna is great but be careful, turns out my son is allergic to it and got a rash all over his back
