Not ready to potty train..?

My son has absolutely zero interest in the toilet.. he is content to go on about his day if he poops, but if we ask him he knows he’s gone (or at least agrees once we ask him if he went).. but he doesn’t seem ready AT ALL.. I’m a first time mom, and I’m worried he’s behind or something? I have some mom friends that have kids his age or younger that seem like they’re ready. I know there are a bunch of kids in this group that are ready., or already trained.. What should I be doing to encourage/help him..? I don’t want to push it, but I want to make sure he’s ok!

Definitely not behind. And definitely don’t rush it as that can just make it worse. My other kids were potty trained at 2.5. I used to babysit and I had kids up to almost 4 years still wearing pull ups. Some kids get it faster than others

Hi! We began potty training 3 weeks ago and my daughter didn’t catch on. She would pee on toilet of I took her but never told me herself that has to go. We’re back to diapers and I’m okay with that! Will try at 2.5 yrs now!

All I will say is that my oldest didn't become fully trained until he turned 4yo. It may take some time. You're not a bad mom. They are not behind. Every kid is just different. It happens. Just remind yourself that they aren't going to ask when they were potty trained on a college application. Brush off the discouragement, you're doing great!

My oldest started potty training at 22 months and did great immediately. She was 100% out of diapers 24/7 by age 2½. I was always told that the second is easier. Everyone was lying. She is SO MUCH HARDER. 😭 She's back in diapers for now and we'll try again in a few months.

@Francine the ironic part in that is I’m a teacher, and I would always tell my families things like this.. “they won’t be asking when they were potty trained, or when they learned to read when they go for job interviews or fill out college applications”. It’s crazy how much of my own advice I’m forgetting as a mom.. Thank you ❤️
