Solids
Hi everyone, desperately in need of help. I'm a first time mom so everything is new and I'm learning along the way. I think I have created a negative association with solid food for my baby and I can't get her to start eating again. We started slowly introducing solids around 6 months and she was always very interested and wanted to eat them, however in the last week she had completely stopped eating and being interested when I'm feeding her at home. At first I thought my cooking was terrible lol but I think she hated the face cleaning after every few bites and now she refuses to eat in the highchair, when I bring her to my mom's she will eat and when we are out she will also eat but at home with me she refuses. I did a Google search and apparently when babies are learning to eat it's very high stimulation, so by wiping their face so much and if they hate it, they will create a negative association with food.
I have no clue what to do. We had her 9 month follow up yesterday and she is healthy, she isn't currently teething and we are basically over the 8 month regression. I was thinking to stop offering the solids all together and restart fresh in a few days, I don't know if this will cause more harm. Any suggestions?
My son has recently went through this. He is currently nine months old and I just let him try to feed himself with his own utensils so when I do try to feed him, I will slip in a couple spoonfuls he’s eating. But other than that, he’s been pretty much wanting to feed himself.
