Screen time at daycare

My daughter is in an in-home daycare. I knew they did cartoons for the kids sometimes, which I never loved. But I can tolerate it if it's limited. We very rarely do any screen time at home - my LO gets a 1 minute miss rachel video when we brush her teeth. Working with kids, I've seen firsthand how too much screen time negativity impacts them socially and behaviorally, so it's really important that my daughter has firm limits. I found out this morning that they put on cocomelon for the littles, which I think is one of the worst shows for the young kids, and it sounds like it might be a daily occurrence. I casually mentioned that they're finding negative affects on development from shows like cocomelon, but I'm kinda freaking out internally. I don't want to overreact. I know that I don't have control over how they run their daycare, but I also really don't want my daughter having daily screen time - especially under the age of two. Am I overreacting? And how would you approach this?

Show your support

I would be unhappy if my paid childcare provider was doing any screen time tbh. I would have a discussion with them and share your expectations. I know easier said than done but I would also look into other childcare options if they aren't responsive to your concerns

You aren’t overreacting. You are being a good mom who wants to protect her baby. I agree with @Leah that you should speak to your daycare. There might be other parents who don’t like the screen time either. Maybe you can find allies to support your case if the daycare doesn’t take your concern seriously. Most of the parents I know do not support screen time for their little kids.

Oh definitely not they should not be doing this, i worked at a daycare that did this and they told us to hide it from the parents its a red flag for me

Personally I would look into other daycare options..
