I think if your daughter is staying a full day the nursery are able to charge for the lunch session (regardless of if you’re bringing food or not) because this is not classed as learning. Your only get learning hours funded x
that’s about right for what i’ve seen!! the nursery my son is about to go to will be charging me an extra £102pw on top of my 15 free funded hours for just 2 full days as they don’t seem to do ‘half days’ only 8-6pm and within the £102 i’m sure is consumables and lunch/tea/snack. if you don’t want to pay on top of the funding you need to find a ‘Term Time Only’ nursery and they should be able to cater to the actual hours and funding as i’m finding with any other ‘all year round’ nursery that’s where the charges are coming in! obviously to swap nursery now can be difficult (i’m finding) as School year has started and a lot of places are over subscribed!! if you want to try and bring the price down maybe ask the nursery if you could send her in with Lunch /snacks etc as you don’t need to be paying for essentially two food shops one for home and one for nursery. it’s so confusing and the Gov haven’t done a good enough job of explain what the funding actually entails or how it works x
My nursery only charges for the dinners if you don’t want to send packed lunch. The 15 funded hours is completely free for us, we just send in nappies and wipes when they ask, the snacks and drinks throughout the day are free too
My nursery charge me £16 a month because the funding hours don’t completely cover their hourly rate this includes his snack and lunch he goes 2 days a week 8-1 x
I have been to see several nurseries and only one does not charge a top up (the pre school). The rest work out about £40 per day on top of a fully funded day!
