Nursery settling and back up childcare

Realistically how long would it take for a 2-year-old to settle in a new nursery? I know every child is different. But I'm wondering how many days my toddler would be back at home due to unsettlement or sickness type of issues in the first weeks/months so I can arrange a back up childcare. What do you do in those days especially if you're a mum of two? Thanks

My two year old started nursery 3 weeks ago but has only done 7 sessions so far due to sickness xx

It’s impossible to tell!! My advice is to be flexible, speak to your work and explain that the best couple of weeks might be a bit crazy. Is your LO quite clingy? He might be fine as a little older. Colds and coughs they just go anyway - it’s if you get pox or HFM you get sent home. My mother in law helped out a bit first couple of weeks (lived with us for a week) On sick days my husband and I both work at home and tag team so we can look after toddler and work in between.

@Ashton wow is it meant to be a full week or part time nursery? @Francesca yes she is quite attached to me. I'm not working yet, on maternity leave but it's impossible to look after both of them at the same time for a long period - they need me at the same time and my toddler never plays independently. Not much family help here and finding a babysitter in my area is a struggle unfortunately

He’s in mon-Friday for 2.5 hours a day, he’s settling quite well but my daughter (3 year old) took a lot longer as she has suspected special needs and is attached to my hip😂 she’s started school nursery now so we’re back to square one 😂xx
