Nursery drop offs

Morning, How are mums with babies in nursery’s managing to do the drop offs? The one we have looked at is 7.45 and I can’t find any local that are earlier? Thank you

We struggled and ultimately had to go with the only one in the area that was open from 7:30am. My partner does drop off so I can get to school nice and early, that means I can leave earlier than I would have pre-baby and do the pick up at 5pm. When he is working away I find it quite stressful tbh :( Teaching is definitely not family friendly in term time!

@Becky it suddenly dawned on me late last night I have no idea how it will work ahha Thank you!

Would 7:45 be early enough if you could find a nursery close to your school? I drop my little one at 8 and can just about get to work for 8:30. I just can’t rely on any time in the morning to get ready for the day so I have to be prepped the night before!

@Sophie no unfortunately it’s not.. as strange as it sounds I work on an island haha and I’m head of faculty so I think I’d really stress being in late! I will double check what the nurseries are like.

I’m head of faculty too and I don’t like being the last to arrive, but needs must for the moment. I don’t have the complexity of working on an island though 😂 You could have a look for childminders instead of a nursery as sometimes they can be more flexible with start times. Or maybe see if you can make an arrangement for a friend/family member/other parent to drop little one off? Hope you work something out!

@Sophie thank you! I did think child minders.. I just don’t think I realised the job and nursery doesn’t ideally match up! 🙈 Thank you for the advice!

I make sure that I am always 100% set up for the day’s lessons the night before, so I stay later and arrive later (but still before the children). I just have to turn up, put my lunch away and turn on the computer and open up my files.

My sons nursery opens at 8am and I make sure we're there on the dot. I arrive at sch by 9am (as long as no traffic).

I’ve picked a nursery close to school rather close to the house. It’s not that far away from the house as my commute is only 20 minutes but it seemed more logical for us since I will have to do drop offs. I won’t be doing work in the mornings I’ll have to just do it when the bell goes. That’s going to be my biggest change when I return to work as I would always work in the mornings
