21 month old twins not talking.

Hi all. My identical twin boys don't show any signs of talking. They do say Dada, Mama, Baba but I don't get the idea that they are specifically meaning anything by it. It almost seems as though they aren't interested in talking. There are some other developmental lags as well. They don't point at anything. Has anyone experienced this with their twins? People say don't worry about it but I am worried.

I’m only pregnant with twins so don’t have this worry with them yet. However my little boy is now 2 1/2 and I had such anxiety around his speech. Even though health professionals say to raise it as a concern at 18 months. The HV told me not to worry but i ignored her and self referred to SALT anyway. They said they wouldn’t see him until 2.5 but did offer some advice around learning him to sign - watching mr tumble/miss Rachel and not asking him questions but actually just talking to him about his interests using simple one or two word phrases. He also started nursery just before 2 which I’m sure helped and honestly he talks so much now! He started off signing the word more for milk or food and learnt other signs and then the words started to come really fast. He hadn’t said anything at all not even mama or dada up until around 2 and now he speaks full on sentences. They’re still really young so try not to worry too much. I know how stressful it can be though.

Hi Zoey, Congratulations on your twin pregnancy! I know it can be a rollercoaster ... but hope you're managing ok. Thanks so much for your advice. It's really great to have something to do that has worked for someone before. So far it's felt a bit like I'm doing random, ineffectual things.

Thanks Chi. I'm beginning to realise that lots babies are talking later. I've been trying them on Ms Rachel for the last few days and they seem to be babbling a bit more.
