Refusal for feed

Hi mums . My lil one is almost 4 months now . For the past one week he is showing refusal to his bottle . He has been on formula since the beginning and was really good eater but now he is not even finishing half of his bottle 😞 i am worried bcz of his weight as its in 25th percentile . I dont understand if this is just a phase or not ? Otherwise he is happy & active . Just not drinking his milk ( he starts to push it away or play with the teat) anyone went through this same ? Please advise

We had a feeding aversion, started around 2mo and I feel like we've just cracked it. My main advice would be not to worry unless they're not putting on weight. We dropped from above 25th to below 9th centile. To tackle a feeding aversion you need to make all feeds positive, so if they say no, then you stop. Try again 10-20 mins later, if they say no again then leave it. If they start to drink less then 10oz in 24 hours then feed when asleep. Slowly they'll build up trust again and be happier taking feeds. Google feeding aversion NHS and there's some info on there to identify if that's what your little one has or they're just going through a phase. Also I'm guessing they had their jabs recently? That could be what's putting them off their bottles.

Having the same thing too

Have you tried a different teat size?

@Jessica yes i have tried different bottle too but still the same issue

Litually going through this I feel like it's been going on for weeks and weeks now

@Maisie oh ! I can totally understand how much stressful it is . Hoping to find a solution soon

@Maria you might have to change the nipple size Dr. Brown has some good bottle nipples .

Those are the Dr Brown bottle nipples for your baby’s age range but if that doesn’t work he might be sick or take him to the pediatrician to get better answers.
