Walking to lose weight

How long do you think you have to walk everyday to see weight loss? I’m trying to start my weight loss journey off slowly and not so drastically so I thought if I do something that I already do everyday (walk) then I’ll be able to see some change. What do you ladies think?

I walked a mile to start, .5 there and .5 back. Walking to a park with your little one or to pick up a few items for dinner from the grocery store, walking to a library for a book things like that are great so that if tour aren’t exactly at .5 you can walk around the store or park to get some extra in

I think this is so generic. I could walk 5km and gain weight, you could do the same and lose it. It’s all to do with calories in vs calories out x

I’ve started talking with my nutritionist to help lose weight and she was saying to try to at least get 10,000 steps in along with healthy eating and what not. So I think if you at least start there you could see results

I’m now pregnant with my second and plan to do the same, it helped me drop back down to my pre baby weight whike breastfeeding. As my body got used to me walking 1 mile, i walked 1.5 , then 2 and once i got to two miles I did 3

I think building from where you’re at is a great start!! To add, it think it’s important to be clear what your expectations are with the walking plus taking a look at your other daily habits as well. You can accomplish a lot with a supportive “diet” (I hate that word, I just mean eating whole foods that fuel you properly) and additional movement through the day. So I can’t say with certainty how much you’d have to walk but I think you’re on the right track!

I think this is a great start to implement overall increased body movement to your daily routine! No negatives can be found there 🤎 I agree with some of the mamas above that it is important to set your expectations and desires clear because at the end of the day, weight loss comes down to calories in vs. out. Increased body movement and exercise adds to the calories out but it’s all related. Eating intuitively and Whole Foods along with intentional body movement (in any form) can result in decreased weight. Super encouraging post, I’m ALL the way here for focused body movement. Go mama!! 🙌🏾💪🏾

Any walking should help if you’re typically sedentary during the day. It will help more if you pair that with a change in diet and increase in water intake. That’s a basic starting line. For example if you drink a lot of soda and cut that out and walk you will notice changes but eventually will have to increase your walks or change diet further to see additionally results.

It won't go by length of time it'll go by how many steps, time and distance and calories. Because I could walk 10k more steps than you but do a shorter journey and less time and still gain weight or vice versa. If you Google your bmi (ignore what it tells you that you are though because that's irrelevant tbh) Then calculate your amount of calories you should consume, stick with that ( I usually give myself 100 cals more than it says as its not always right) Then you can also Google how many steps for your height weight and cals, you need to do to lose weight. Then always do a few more hundred steps than it tells you or a few more minutes longer if you can. I used to do a mini workout early in the morning then walk all day too and count calories and managed to lose alot. But because I love food I then stopped and got in a relationship and now I'm back to start again single, bigger than ever 😂😂 but a start is a start. We've got this.

Walking is great! I always aim for 10k steps a day but honestly nutrition is key. 80% of results are in your diet.

Looking at your photo it doesn’t look like you have much to lose. Whereas someone that had a lot of weight to lose would probably see a big difference in walking. Still it all helps however it’s more to do with having a calorie deficit.

Surprisingly, exercise does very little for weight loss. Like Christy said, weight loss/general fitness is 80% diet, 20% exercise. Weight depends on taking in less calories than you burn each day. I use the MyNetDiary app to track calories in and out. It will also give you recommended daily calories based on when you want to reach your weight loss goal! It helped me lose 20lbs in a few months before I got pregnant and had to stop

I started walking on my lunch break (about 5-6k steps in an hour) and it took a couple of weeks for it to take effect as my body likes to put on muscle before fat loss, but I’m probably on track to lose 10lbs in a couple more weeks. Been doing this for about a month now.

You need to be in a. Calorie deficit to lose weight. You could walk 20 miles a day and not lose a thing unless you are in a calorie deficit x

I’ve been TERRIBLE with walks. For 2 days this week I’ve not left the house 😣

I have been doing over 10k for 2 weeks now still see no changes but I feel like it's easier and I have more energy and strength
