Shoes

Hi, My 11 month old is now walking about 15 steps unaided and will walk around holding my hand for long periods of time. Do I need to get specific shoes for him, he hasn’t walked when outside yet but it’s only a matter of time. Any recommendations or are the special shoes for first steps a waste of money? Many thanks in advance.

We got our first shoes from clarks because the soles are really soft and sturdy and they measure their feet too. I've seen people get sock like shoes too and I think they're meant to be good. Think we paid £18 for ours

I got some vans from vinted and they are brilliant! Thry have wide toes so the toes dont get squished

Need to be walking more than 15 steps for shoes. Need to be confidently walking

I went to clarks to get my LO first shoes. They need time to get used to shoes so its not just about being able to walk in them or you'll end up with 10 random shoes because theyve been taken and thrown on the go 🤦🏻‍♀️

Look into barefoot shoes. Maybe during this early stage as well some barefoot sock shoes will be better as they're super soft, comfortable but still allow baby to use their feet as they would barefoot and they can feel the ground better!

You want the soles to be SUPER flexible really so they can use their feet properly!:)

@Jasmine if they’re not on tippy toes you can get them pre-walkers from Clarks. Mine will walk holding your hands so we had to get her something to keep her feet warm and dry when we’re out and about! She wears them minimally but it’s ok to have shoes before they’re walking or when they’re walking minimally.

@Jen I’ve always waited until walking fully confidently first. My youngest is constantly walking along furniture and holding our hands but will still wait until walking around completely unaided before putting shoes on him. Get feet use to walking first before restricting with shoes. Personally opinion!
