Whitworths Dates?

I ordered some dates in my weekly Sainsburys shop and they substituted with these Whitworths Dates, I just opted for the cheapest Sainsburys alternative originally. But I’m not sure if these are the right kind of dates? They are really tasty and I don’t see anyone else use this brand, everyone seems to get the huge ones. Am I supposed to be getting more fresh type ones? internet says these are Sayer Dates, does it matter what type I’m having?🙈Anyone else having Whitworths? Or any recommendations on what type I should be getting for optimum results?😅It feels like cheating because they are really moreish and Ive seen so many people complain about date’s taste and covering it in chocolate etc, but these are tasty. The pack says its 99% dates, and sunflower oil? I mean some people cover it in peanut butter and chocolate so a bit of sunflower oil shouldn’t be a problem, right?🙈 I might try the more fresh type ones, maybe I just like dates in general?😂 Any recommendations or advice?

All I’m going to say is get medjool dates! You won’t regret it 😍👌🏽

@Emma Medjool dates do say “rich caramel flavour” so I guess I might have to give that a go, these Whitworths ones say Toffee-ish flavour and they do in fact have similar taste to toffees. So maybe I just like dates😅🤷‍♀️

I’ve not had these whitworth ones for years but they used to be quite dry. Is that still the case? If you get the fresher medjool dates they’re sweet, sticky and taste like dessert. I agree and love dates. They are so underrated! High in fibre too so good to have during and after labour! Enjoy ☺️

@Emma currently they are drier on the outside, a little crunchy and then toffee softer in the middle, but I’m liking the texture.

If they’re 99% dates then surely they’re exactly the same as any other packet of dates? So I am confused what your question is. Dates are very delicious, they’re very high in sugar

@Elle 99% is not the same as 100%. Without seeing the packet, that 1% is probably preservative or inflammatory seed oils as incognito said, sunflower oil.

These are the ones I used to have 👍🏽 I live in the Middle East now so get fresh brands over here!
